Keeping Up with the Seasons

Seasons - Blog

Your business may have different offerings for your guests, when the seasons change. It is important to update your business, both online and onsite at your property, throughout the year.

Online

When it comes to keeping up with the seasons and your online presence, we like to look at what our ResortsandLodges customers do to keep their listing in top form, making it stand out to travelers.  Our customers use their Client Center to make the same changes to their listings that can be done on other advertising channels across the web.

Imagery

A picture is worth a thousand words, and that is true when it comes to your listing/website. It’s tough to sell a summer getaway when your listing is covered in snowy imagery. As great as winter at your property may be, when summer is around the corner, your images should reflect what your business has to offer.

Keep in mind that quality is key when it comes to imagery regardless of season. High quality images will catch the eye of many travelers and immediately have them wanting to learn more about your property.

Content is King

When your images reflect the summer months, your content should go right along with it. Is your business on a lake? It might be time to rid the content that boasts about the great fish you’ll reel in while sitting in your ice shack. Instead, talk about the fun the family can have out on boat rentals, spending days tubing on the lake, or lounging on the beach.

When your content and imagery paint a cohesive, in-season picture of your property, guests will pick up on the experiences that their families and friends can have while staying with you.

Packages

Everyone loves to save money. When you’re offering up events during certain seasons, be sure to keep your packages up to date. Keeping your deals and packages current will help travelers looking to save money find your property.

When your imagery, content and packages are all in line, it provides travelers with a sense of the experiences your property will provide, while highlighting your greatest aspects during that particular season.

On Property

As important as your online presence is throughout the seasons, what your business is doing for guests staying with you is just as important. While offerings are different from property to property, everyone has assets to highlight.

What makes this Season at your Property great?

Whether you’re known for summer fun, winter experiences, great fall foliage or anything else, take time to think of the best way to showcase that on property. Do families come to hang out on the lake at your property? Sit down and think of the best ways to show your guests why they need to be hitting the water this weekend while staying with you.

By showcasing what’s great, you may be able to upsell your guests on something they may not have thought about doing.

Kids Rule

Work with school schedules of kids. When it comes to summertime, cater to families at your property. Throughout the year you have the ability to cater to families and should take advantage of the seasons when many are able to travel.

Promote Your Town

Take advantage of events going on in your surrounding areas by promoting them on site. Is there a fair happening nearby? Encourage guests to get out and go or provide them with something while they’re on their way (transportation, anyone?).

The more involved you are in your community will make travelers feel as if they’re living as a local, and not just staying at your property for somewhere to sleep.

Whether it’s online or on property, it is important to keep your information up to date. With online listings and your website are the storefront to your property it’s important to keep them current with information, imagery and what you can offer. When guests get to your property, they should experience what they saw online, regardless of the season.

The great thing about these tips is you have the ability to do them yourself. You can control your listing throughout the year and you can control what is happening on property. With some time and planning, these two can cohesively provide an experience that will keep travelers coming back.
